What a week we have had!! We travelled to Grafton for 7 shows in five days and Lady has officially come of age. Wednesday 11th May - Runner Up Best in Show / Junior in Show Add Comment Best in Speciality Show 23/04/2011
Lady just keeps going from strength to strength and I feel like I am just here for the ride!! Yesterday we travelled to Sydney for the 72nd Annual Lhasa Apso Club of NSW Championship Show. Lady went Best in Show under breed specialist Stuart Keay (UK) from an entry of 46. This becomes her greatest achievement so far and at an age of just 14 months and 13 days makes it all the more sweeter!! Best in Group 7 28/03/2011
I have learnt you get some good weekends, some bad weekends and then there was last weekend!! On Saturday we travelled down to Goulburn Agricultural Show and came away with Runner Up in Group 7, with an entry of 61 dogs. This was only topped on Sunday at Lithgow All Breeds Kennel Club were Lady was honoured with Best Exhibit in Group 7 from an entry of 90 dogs!! Totally unexpected and an absolute thrill Aust Ch. Been a while since my last post and there has been heaps of news. The family caravaned it down to Merimbula second week in February where we showed at the Sapphire coast Kennel Club. Lady had turned one year old on the Wednesday of the week, which meant she now only needed another 25 challenge points for her Australian Title. A Best in Group secured this and we are pretty sure she is the youngest Lhasa to be titled in Australia, after the new system of 25 points after one year of age was introduced. The challenge points have flowed ever since and she now has 207!! A New Year 18/01/2011
Lady has had an awesome start to the New Year with 2 Puppy in Groups and two Puppy in Shows. We have a local show on Saturday morning and then off to Sydney for "Puppy of the Year" contest. It probably sounds a little strange but I think Lady has taught me more about showing than all of the advice I have been given. She is quite the little showdog and an absolute pleasure to own. Thanks to Michael and Jenny of Amesen Lhasa Apsos one more time,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Lady Puppy in show at Asian Breeds 01/12/2010

Lucy is retired!! 16/06/2010
Well the decision was made, the clippers come out and that was that. Lucy can now stay at home and keep Charlie company when were off to shows. The following two photos were taken a day apart. What to do?? 16/05/2010
Lucy was never intended to be a show dog, but from what I can gather she is quite typical of the breed. Problem 1 - Lucy doesn't seem to like showing. This could be lack of socialization as a puppy? Or is it deeper seeded in her make up? After each show when she wont walk I seem to go through a phase where I am ready to shave her off and give it all a miss!! After an hour or two the determination sets back in and the brain starts trying to come up with ideas of how to get her going. The deadline is always moved and more shows are entered! Being new to the whole thing is not easy and I am trying to learn as much as possible. I am very lucky to have a group of people around me that are really helpful and forthcoming with advice, but what are we going to do with Lucy?? With the lead in one hand and the clippers in the other we will battle on............ |
